Host Hotel: INDIANA MEMORIAL UNION (IMU)

The Indiana Memorial Union operates as a hotel, a conference center and a student union. All preconference workshops, sessions and some meal and social functions of the conference will be held in the Indiana Memorial Union. Although other lodging options are available in Bloomington, for your convenience, we recommend that you book your hotel reservations at the IMU.

We encourage you to make your reservation early as accommodations are often difficult to secure during the fall – a busy time of year for many campus activities. The PCD block of hotel rooms will be released to the general public on August 30, 2008.

Hotel room rates are based on:

Weekday (Sun-Thurs) or weekend (Fri & Sat) check-in
The following are representative room charges projected for October 2008:

Suite, weekday w/2 double beds,parlor,bath $220.00
Weekend rates are approximately $20.00 per day additional charge.
All rooms are subject to an 11% tax.
Internet Access
Hardwire and wireless internet access is available throughout the IMU.

Although we encourage you to join your colleagues by staying at the host hotel, there are a number of locally owned hotels, bed and breakfasts as well as national and international hotel chains available to you. Most accommodations are within easy driving distance of campus. Four facilities are within walking distance of campus:

Food events included in your registration fee include:
- Opening Reception. Wednesday evening IU Art Museum
- Continental Breakfasts Thursday, Friday and Saturday IMU
- Morning Beverage Breaks Thursday, Friday, and Saturday IMU
- Lunches Thursday, Friday and Saturday IMU
- Afternoon Refreshments Thursday and Friday IMU
Special dietary needs will be accommodated at all food functions.
When you register for the conference, you will be given the opportunity to identify any special dietary needs. Foods will be selected to assure that your requests are met.
Refreshments and Lunches will also be provided for participants attending pre-conference workshops. Workshop prices will include the cost of the workshop itself as well as meals provided.
Dining in Bloomington
There are many pleasant pubs, restaurants and coffee houses located a short walking distance from campus.
- Kirkwood Avenue is a main street leading from campus to downtown Bloomington. Along Kirkwood you will find many casual eating options.
- 4th Street is renowned for its unusual and unusually large selection of ethnic restaurants – Indian, Italian, Moroccan, Thai, Burmese, Mexican, Cajun and Korean. Located between 4th and Kirkwood is one of only two restaurants in the US featuring authentic Tibetan cuisine.
