LOCATION AND VENUE

Located in what many in the United States call “the crossroads of America,” Indiana is uniquely situated at a convenient intersection between the East and West Coasts of the United States, between Canada and Mexico, between Europe and Asia.

Indiana University, Bloomington
School of Informatics

In order to serve the needs of the state of Indiana through the growth of an information technology culture, the School of Informatics, when founded in 2000, established programs on both its Bloomington and Indianapolis campuses.  From the beautiful main campus in Bloomington to the urban campus in Indianapolis, Indiana University offers a vibrant, technologically advanced environment for study and research.

As a participant in pdc ’08, you will have the opportunity to visit the Bloomington campus, to visit the School of Informatics, Bloomington and to learn about the programs, unique laboratories and centers at the School of Informatics in Indianapolis.  PDC’08 Conference will take place on the Bloomington campus of Indiana University (hyperlink to www.iub.edu/tour), a distance of about 80 kilometers south of Indianapolis. This campus is a careful blend of traditional and modern architecture within a park-like environment. The community of Bloomington, along with the University, offers the charm of a small town and the sophistication of a cultural capital with international caliber performance in opera, music and theater.

Indiana Memorial Union (IMU)

Situated in the center of the IU Bloomington campus, among tree lined paths and a meandering stream, is the Indiana University Memorial Union -  a limestone Tudor designed structure which will serve as the host hotel for the conference, the site of all PDC conference sessions and many conference social events.  The IMU is a large, beautiful and unique facility which, in addition to its conference amenities, serves as the student union.  It is enriched by large comfortable lounges, burning fireplaces, casual and elegant dining options.  It even houses a 10 lane bowling alley, billiard room and game arcade.
